Cannot access through telnet or browser?

I really hate to be this guy, but I cannot get this to work locally or from my laptop.  The directions seem pretty clear, but nothing I do seems to work.  I am running Vista 64 (Ultimate).  I desperately want this to work so I can write an interface for my AMX system and get rid of my old DVD player.  It has to be something stupid that I am missing?

I am so excited about this program.  I am surprised that this idea isn't all over the place.  Everyone has home networks now, with wireless routers.  Then you combine a phone/mp3 player with wireless, why not have it as an extra remote control.  One the kids can't lose.  :)  I am itching to see this puppy in action.

I am in the same boat as the other poster here.  I am running windows 7 and after I installed the program, I can't seem to telnet to http://localhost:40500 or access the website http://localhost:40510/help .  I am assuming that I am screwing something up.  I am fairly computer literate, but I am not aware of how to list the port that a specific program is listening on.

Any help would be appreciated so that I can determine if the protocol is running.  It may be something as simple as Vista/7 isn't supported.  :)

Hi Guys. There is a known issue with the EPG stuff in Windows 7. I don't have Windows 7 so I've not done any work on it, but one of the other users here, olddog has ripped out the EPG code to get this working.

Take a look at this thread for more info:

I still cannot get this to work.  I am running Vista 64 on my machine, so I am not sure if anything in the other thread pertains to me even though I have tried.  Could I be missing something about the installation/setup process?  Does anyone have a step by step process of what to do to get this to work?  I would be eternally grateful.  Thanks.

I believe (and I could be wrong), but VmcController currently doesn't work on 64 bit OSs, which is a wee bit annoying. I've read that a few people have tinkered with the code but to no avail. Not really sure why it wouldnt work on 64 bit machines (not my forte), but this is something I'm interested in as I have 3x 64bit machines that I want to be running this on!!
